Do You Like to Work with Your Hands?
Do you enjoy being outdoors? If you do, being a Wood Angel may be just right for you!
Many families face hardships providing what some would consider simple, basic needs for themselves. Wood Angels focuses on just one need: heating homes. We believe that no one in our community should go without heat in their home, and we are here to help.
If someone lacks the physical ability or financial means to get their own firewood, they can call on us to help. Now we are calling on you.
When it comes to labor and time, no amount is too little. Whether you can spare us an hour a week or forty hours, you WILL make a difference in someone's life.
Our recipients include seniors, elderly, disabled, and low-income veterans, and resident of our own community that are struggling to stay warm.
We are able to sign off on community service hours and are glad to connect with High School students and community members on this.
What Duties Are Volunteers Asked to Do?
We have a variety of duties every day at our wood yard. There is something for everyone to help with. Big or small, old or young, men or women, we have lots of projects for all abilities.
During the spring, we work on processing wood for deliveries that start in the fall.
There is something for everyone to help with. If you want to bring your chainsaw, we ALWAYS have logs that need to be bucked. We have commercial splitters that can always be run, and there is always general cleanup, sorting split wood and round piles, filing chains, organizing storage areas, and much more to do.
If you would rather help with deliveries, we can set you up to drive our delivery trucks and make deliveries during delivery season as well.

*You will need to attend a couple of work parties to understand how the organization works before being allowed to jump into the trucks.
